Junior Year: Completed

I can't express the sense of relief I currently feel. In two hours, I will officially be done with my junior (and possibly the most difficult) year of college. That means next year will be my last. I don't know if that's exciting, intimidating, or both.

Throughout life, everyone goes through the same stages. When your in a certain position, you always look towards the future. 'I can't wait till I'm old enough to do this...', 'I can't wait till I graduate and don't have to deal with finals anymore.' The truth is, it's gone before you know it. What I'm struggling with is the fact that I will be in the working world. I won't have education and college to hide behind anymore. I may be an optimist, but it's still scary thinking about finding a career and finances and all that fun stuff.

The thing I look forward to is the possibilities. I could go into broadcasting, or producing, or writing screenplays. The world is full of endless opportunities, and as I like to say, 'when an opportunity comes knocking, open the door and let it in.' 

For now, I'm looking forward to the summer. No papers, or thesis', or quizzes and exams to worry about. Instead, I get to spent the summer with the people who are most important to me, and have fun. Of course, work will be involved too, have to pay the bills somehow! It helps that I love my jobs.

Enough of my rambling. Congratulations to all the students out there who survived another year of classes.

Film Review: In Time (2011)

One week left of classes, and no one can truly imagine the excitement I'm feeling...okay, well, I'm sure there are a few that feel it, especially those that are in my interviewing and language interaction classes. If you want a piece of advice, never sign up for two classes by the same professor without any knowledge of who they are. They might just pile the work on top of you high enough that you are forced to dig to see the light. I might be overreacting a tiny bit....

In between all of my school work (did I mention it was the last week?!) I had time to watch a film I've been dying to see: In Time (2011). I was intrigued with the entire concept. Essentially, people stop aging at twenty-five, and only have enough time to live until they are twenty-six. If they work, they buy more time, and in the long run, buying immortality. 

In Time stars Justin Timberlake as Will  Salas, a twenty-eight year old man who lives in the 'slums' with his mother (played by Olivia Wilde.) Will is struggling, living paycheck to paycheck. He goes to the bar one night, where he stumble upon, and saves, Henry Hamilton, a man who has decades of life on him. The catch is, he doesn't believe people should be immortal. After Will saves him, he gives will all of his time, killing himself in the process. 

When Will's mom runs out of time, he vows to ruin the system. He leaves the 'slums' with his new-found time,  and inches his way one of the wealthiest families in town. To make a long story short, he kidnaps the daughter (Amanda Seyfried.) Together, they break into a bank and steal time, where they go and share it with people in the 'slums.' 

I found this film to be well-written and well directed. I was also impressed with the casting. I'll admit, I never thought of Timberlake as the gun-yielding type, but he pulled it off pretty well. I still think he should stick to comedies (admit it, you loved Friends with Benefits!) Matt Bomer, Alex Pettyfer, and Cillian Murphy all did excellent jobs as well, with both Pettyfer and Murphy playing two completely different antagonists.

Overall, I would give this film a seven out of ten. I love when a plot line draws me to a film, and this one certainly followed through.
