As I sit in the radio station reflecting upon my last first day of school, I think that maybe, just maybe, all the stress was worth it, and that something great is out there waiting. I woke up this morning uninspired. Essentially, I want to blame that on senioritis, but what I really think was the source was fear. Fear of what happens once I leave the only thing I've ever known. Once you graduate, there is a whole world out there, and that world isn't as generous as school is. Today, I attended two of my classes, Mass News and Comm Theory. Both of my professors are great, but I was incredibly inspired by my Mass News professor. She's currently a professor of journalism, but she previously worked for the Spokesman, and inspired us with stories from her past. She has changed and affected so many lives, and listening to her speak reminded me why I'm studying communications and journalism. The thought of writing for my community and helping others makes me feel inspired, and gives me hope. After thinking it through, I would love to be an entertainment writer. With hard work, and some networking, hopefully I can make that happen.
Fall doesn't just mean the start of the school year, but the start of the TV seasons as well! Over the past month I've been catching up on Once Upon a Time on Netflix. That show is not only brilliant, but casted perfectly and ever so charming (yes, that can be defined as a lame pun.) Season one ended with a bang, with the curse being broken and everyone remembering their alter egos, and with Mr. Gold releasing magic on Storybrook. Once Upon a Time returns this Sunday at 9 pm, with new characters like Sleeping Beauty and Captain Hook!
With most of the premieres still set to happen next week (NBC got a head start), it'll be interesting to see which shows survive and which don't. Let's cross our fingers for Matthew Perry's 'Go On.' He's fallen victim to the curse once before (anyone remember Mr. Sunshine???) but I'm hoping this time the studio keeps his show, because I happen to think it's not only witty and funny, but heart warming as well.
Until next time.
